| Tata Motors to hike vehicle prices to pass on excise duty hike Prices of both commercial and passenger vehicles will be hiked with immediate effect Tata Motors has decided to increase the prices of its commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles, with immediate effect, proportionate to the increase in the corresponding excise duty announced in the Union Budget today. Earlier, the Union Budget 2012-13 increased excise duty from 10% to 12% on small cars (i.e. not more than 4000 mm length with engine capacity not exceeding 1200 cc for petrol cars and 1500 cc for diesel cars). Similarly, the budget increased in excise duty from 22% to 24% on large cars over 4000 mm length with engine capacity not exceeding 1200 cc for petrol cars and 1500 cc for diesel cars. Likewise, the budget has increased the excise duty from 22% + Rs 15000 to 27% on large cars over 4000 mm length with engine capacity exceeding 1500 cc for petrol cars and 1500 cc for diesel cars. |
