CONTRACT NOTES

Contract note refers to a confirmation given by the broker to his client in a specified format, for a trade executed on a specific day. A contract note enforces a legal relationship between the member and the client. The member keeps a duplicate copy of contract note signed by the client and the client keeps the original. Three different contract notes can be issued to a client under the following circumstances:

Contents of a Contract Note
  1. Member's or sub-broker's registration number with SEBI.
  2. Trade details like order number, trade number, trade time and quantity, price and brokerage, settlement number etc.
  3. Separately indication of price, brokerage and service tax.
  4. Signature of authorized representative.
  5. Arbitration Clause (stating that the trade is subject to Mumbai's jurisdiction).
