Those securities whose total traded
volume/value during a given period (generally one day) is the highest are
known as the Most Active Securities during that period.
The release of any significant new information about a company, which can
potentially have a sizeable impact on the company's stock price, generally
leads to higher-than-normal trading volume. Investors see this as an
opportunity to make some quick money and, thus, start selling or buying
shares of this company, resulting in strong momentum in the stock and higher
trading volume at the end of the day.
